 ABC Field Day Events

All advertised Field Days and meetings are held. If the weather is unsuitable to open hives, an alternative programme is held undercover. We provide tea and coffee at lunchtime.
For lunch bring your own or something to share.

Field days are held on the second Saturday of the month at the ABC apiary in Gribblehurst Hub, public is welcome to join us on these days.

 

SATURDAY MAY 11TH

11.00 Hive opening

  • Unusual Equipment – bring any odd piece of hiveware or beekeeping gear
  • Feeders – different types and how to use them

12:00 Lunch

12:30 We will host members from Franklin and Rodney bee clubs for a presentation by the new General Manager at AFB Management Agency Niha Long and our AP1 Dwayne Hill.

This will be a chance to hear their proposed new focus and to voice your opinions. It would be great to show your support.

  • Correct use of Varroa treatments, how to monitor the mite population and what to do when mite numbers build up
  • Splits - different types, when to do them.
